Duramark Wristbands
SATO's DuraMark™ Wristbands are virtually indestructible and display various details of patient information, encoded securely in a barcode. They remain legible even after extended exposure to water, abrasion, cleaners and everyday wear. Each wristband provides enhanced safety through positive identification of individual patients, linked to a patients medical or account number using both human readable text, barcodes and if desired, a patient's picture.

Patient Sample Labelling
Positive Patient Identification is important to be maintained throughout the healthcare process and extends into all areas where samples are taken from or products are to be given to the patient. Integrated Patient Label Printing
Hospitals can often have several systems where data is collected relating to it's patients depending upon what tests and treatments are carried out, meaning that often data has to cross over between systems. All patients basic data is collected and the key identifier of patient identification number is allocated within the Patient Admission System (PAS) and often a quantity of labels are printed at point of admission and placed in patient notes folders for use throughout their stay in hospital. By providing for integrated patient label printing, instead of large quantities of labels being printed at admission, labels can be printed as and when required, reducing unnecessary costs, removing issue of them potentially being misplaced at critical times and lessening the risk of incorrect labelling. SATO mobile and desktop printers can be easily integrated into all hospital systems to enable on-demand label printing.

Utilising a SATO RFID ready print solution enables you to manage barcode requirements today, while also supporting expanding RFID requirements - without requiring changes to your entire infrastructure. In addition to the printers the range of RFID media offered by SATO includes specialist products such as RFID wristbands as well as small RFID labels which work with our DirectInlay Printing™ solution.
As one example of our capabilities, SATO DirectInlay Printing™ offers a cost effective and scaleable RFID Tag printing solution. The DirectInlay Printing™ capability of SATO printers enables encoding of and printing directly onto very short pitch (small) RFID labels without the need for additional inlay insertion and label converting. The capacity to print and encode labels with a pitch as small as 20mm, while integrating seamlessly into all major IT systems, facilitates easy use of RFID with existing barcode applications.
Mobile Printing
SATO Mobile Printing Solutions offer lightweight, ergonomic, wearable printers able to withstand the challenges of field conditions where dust and temperature extremes, or physical shock are common. Regardless of the size of the job, SATO's print bureau has the capabilities to manufacture and overprint your labels to meet all required standards. If your specifications require overprinting of standard or customised labels or tags, with fixed, variable or sequential data and you do not have these facilities to print in-house, SATO can provide the secure, quality print solution to suit your needs.
Customised Labels
SATO have local manufacturing facilities located in Melbourne capable of producing labels to suit most applications. Overview:
PathWest Laboratory Medicine WA provides pathology testing, teaching and research to service the residents of Western Australia. PathWest is currently Western Australia's leading referral pathology laboratory and provides support via it's comprehensive network of over 25 testing laboratories and more than 50 collection centres covering the entire state. Active teaching, clinical research and pathology development programs assist in enhancing diagnostic accuracy and improving the understanding of disease processes and of clinical care.
Issues:
PathWest processes in excess of 110,000 sets of pathology samples per month across it's extensive operation, with each set including up to 15 separate specimens, all of which need to be tracked. With more than 1.3 million samples processes each year under normal operations, tracking samples against patients is critical to ensuring correct diagnosis and treatment. PathWest have predictive modeling to anticipate the quantity of patients at each collection centre and kinds of samples that will be taken so that they can best ensure appropriate staffing levels and expertise required. Scanning systems are used at each stage of the process to track specimens meaning that PathWest require good quality labels with appropriate label media to ensure complete traceability & control.
Solution:
Based upon the performance requirements detailed by PathWest SATO produce several types of custom formatted labels. These labels are then overprinted with variable data reflecting multiple data fields, with data and quantities reflective of the estimated quantity requirements for each collection location.
Benefits:
Labels have been manufactured to the exact specifications of PathWest where labels must meet required durability and withstand specific conditional factors to ensure performance and traceability of specimens within the complex testing environment. SATO has provided over 1.3 million overprinted labels, including additional urgent labels that have been required due to recent increased demand for pathology services. In addition to labels for overprinting in SATO Print Bureau, additional labels used within the PathWest laboratories have also bee provided.
